Cordierite, a mineral with the theoretical composition of 2MgO • 3Al2O3 • 2SiO2 is a major component of Cordierite-Mullite kiln furniture. It has an extremely low coefficient of thermal expansion explaining the outstanding thermal shock resistance of these kiln furniture materials.
The controlled combination of Mullite, as a high temperature resistant mineral and Cordierite, allows tailoring material characteristics for a wide variety of firing profiles and application temperatures.
Imerys Kiln Furniture has developed a wide range of Cordierite-Mullite materials, in order to provide high performance kiln furniture tailor made for each application.
Here are some Compositions of our Portfolio, but much more compositions are available on demand.
