The roof tiles manufacturing process was considerably improved during the second half of the 20th century. Along with the first tunnel kilns in this industry, automatic handling systems have appeared more and more in this industry, to become a standard nowadays.

Imerys Kiln Furniture is a world leader in manufacturing H and U-type firing supports applied in traditional tunnel or intermittent kilns, usually on kiln car. Ceramic supports for tiles have played a key role in this industrialization of the roof tiles manufacturing. IKF has been a pioneer and has acquired a leading position in providing this industry with ceramic products, to contain or support roof tiles, allowing:

• A high degree of automation of the roof tiles handling.
  
  
• A very good dimensional (size, flatness) reproducibility of the roof tiles, thanks to a very high precision and stability in the dimensions of our supports.
  
  
• A very long life-time of our supports (up to 3 000 cycles depending on operating conditions), thanks to a strong resistance to the mechanical and thermal constraints. Our mastering of the body composition of our supports is key to achieve this.

Please note that these products are made of cordierite-mullite. Several compositions have been developed to ensure the best resistance to your operating conditions.
